What is Simulation4TFS? It is a module of inteGREAT4TFS
Simulation4TFS is a web-based requirement management tool module that helps users to manage project requirements visually. It enables users to visualize the requirements in design mode by using a set of pre-defined controls, and then in turn link them with TFS work items in the connected team project.
Users can create a new folder in the Folder Explorer to maintain mockup files in folder hierarchy. These folders are located in TFS source control so that the system maintains version history within TFS. Users can create a folder under the root folder, as well as create sub-folders within a folder. One or more mockup files can be placed in a single folder.
Modeling Visual Requirements
Create a new mockup file using a pre-defined template, drag & drop UI controls from Controls Library, set properties of the mockup page and the UI controls in a floating property popup. Whenever a new mockup is created, it gets auto-linked with a work item. Users can view the linked work items of mockup page and controls, as well as create new linked work items, link to existing work items, open a work item, delete a link and get the latest version of the linked work items from TFS. Users have the option for showing or hiding annotations in the modeling layout.
Mockups Version Management
Mockup files can be saved locally or published to TFS by using the ‘Check-In Changes’ feature. The system maintains the version history of mockups in source control. Mockup s open either in Read-Only mode or Checked-Out mode. In read-only mode, users can view mockups in a modeling layout, their linked work items, as well as generate previews on it. Users can also get the latest version of the mockup file from TFS using the ‘Refresh’ feature at the Folder Explorer toolbar.
Navigation between Mockups
The navigation properties of the application’s controls help users to create links between mockups, so that click at a control will navigate the user to the referenced mockup or web page. Users can create link to a new mockup, existing mockups or to a web address. Users can also select other controls for showing or hiding by performing a single click in run mode.
Generate a preview of the mockup for presenting and experiencing the user interface in run mode. It shows the mockup UI in run mode as it is designed in design mode.
Users can send a mockup file to project stakeholders, who in turn can view the mock up, annotate the screens, provide textual or voice based feedback to the author.
